Office equipment is sold on headline numbers that almost nobody can use. A printer quoted at 40 pages a minute is quoting a single sided black page from a warm machine, and the cost that matters is pence per page over five years rather than the price on the box. Every listing here states the real running cost, the monthly duty cycle the machine is actually built for, what the consumables cost and how long they last. Where a cheaper machine would do the job we say so, because the money in this trade is in the consumables and we would rather you knew that from us than worked it out in year two.

A cheap printer with expensive cartridges costs more over three years than a dearer one with high yield toner, and the gap is usually several times the price difference on the hardware. Every printer and copier listing here publishes pence per page in mono and colour at the standard and the high yield cartridge.

Which one to buy

Start with the audit. It costs a fraction of a machine, it takes a month, and in most offices it concludes that the estate has more devices than it needs rather than older ones. We are perfectly happy to sell you fewer printers than you have now, because a managed contract is a five year relationship and starting it by overselling is a poor way to begin.
